Great Minds Think Different 2019

We hosted our annual Great Minds Think Different Event in November 2019 at Platform Southwark. The event was set up as a celebration of neurodiversity everywhere and included some amazing acts, such as Gabriela Eva, J-Rock and Kaiya Stone.

Our aim was to create the ideal space for performances, discussions and films that would help to transform the conversation around neurodiversity in the media and in the workplace. And we certainly feel like we succeeded…

Around a hundred people turned up to see comedian Luke Poulton talk about his experiences of autism, and his love for bad films. There was also a sneak peak at Kaiya Stone’s new book Everything is Going to be K.O, which she read an extract from.

Our panel also included Prof Sara Rankin, J-Rock (from Big Brovaz) and Jo Digby (from Universal Music Group). They talked about a range of issues including: the overlap between the arts and the science; how to unlock the creative potential of people at work; and the relationship between education, learning and neurodiversity.

The night was headlined by Gabriela Eva, who is dyslexic herself, performing her new song ‘HEY!’, whilst our guests enjoyed the art on display, courtesy of the Hart Club. We also unveiled our new Social Impact Report so that everyone could see the difference we have made over the last year and be inspired to help us continue our work.

Matt Boyd, founder of Exceptional Individuals, said: “sharing the creative ways we can express ourselves and our neurodiversity is at the heart of what we do. The event will showcase some of our new projects and the aim is to upload creative content and stories so that it is a hub for people to find inspiration and read more about individual experiences.”
